Flat Roof Options for Industrial or Commercial Buildings

The most common type of roof for industrial or commercial buildings is the flat roof. If you are looking to replace your roof, you can have five flat roof options.

Built-up Roof

It is a very common roof option. While the roof is inexpensive, it is aesthetically pleasing and has great insulation. This type of roof has gravel as its top coat which looks nice. As a built-up roof has many layers, it provides great insulation.

Modified Bitumen

The single-ply roofing system is usually rolled onto a roof surface upon installation. The latest modified bitumen installation method consists of peeling the material and allowing it to stick to the roof surface. The roof option allows you to save energy because the roof usually reflects the sun.

PVC

The very durable and highly reflective roofing system is one of the most popular options. A Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC roof is easy to install. It also lacks water permeability, which prevents ponding water.

Single Ply EPDM

Just like PVC, EPDM, or Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, is a single-ply roofing system. However, EPDM is made of rubber compound instead of plastic. This type of roof is known for its durability. The roofing system’s seams are treated with adhesives.

Silicone-Coated Roof

The advantages of getting this type of roofing system include seamless application, resistance to ponding water, and reflective properties. This type of roof allows you to save energy because of its ability to reflect the sun. As a new silicone roof coating can be put on top of an existing substrate, it makes the roofing system very sustainable and extends the life of the existing roof.

The five options for roofing systems also have disadvantages. You need to talk to a roofing expert to determine which option is suitable for your building. At Restore Masters, we will give you advice on roofing options. We provide installation services that are quick, professional, and cost effective.
